Transport Compliance Assistant - Jarrow


To assist the Transport Manager in the control and management of all transport related matters to ensure the health, safety and welfare of drivers, employees and members of the public. Ensure compliance with internal transport procedures and legislative requirements as set out by DVSA and HSE.

  • Book safety inspections, crane inspections, tachograph calibrations and MOT’s for all LGV’s.
  • Upload inspection records to vehicle database.
  • Gather defect reports for all vehicles and ensure they are appropriately completed, actioned and retained in line with licence undertakings.
  • Ensure all LGV drivers have the correct licence entitlement and that all medicals, training and driver qualification cards are kept up to date.
  • Book periodic driver CPC and crane training for all LGV drivers.
  • Upload training certificates and maintain driver database.
  • Travel to operating centres to carry out periodic tachograph downloads for both drivers and vehicles.
  • Upload tachograph data to Vision for analysis.
  • Ensure Vision is updated with driver/vehicle information including holidays and rest days (appropriate training will be provided).
  • Order compliance equipment and stationery such as straps, defect books and tachograph rolls.
  • Carry out driver debriefs and deliver toolbox talks prepared by the Transport Manager on legislative changes/ driver’s hours infringements.
  • Upload debriefs and communication records to driver database.
  • Deliver training on the safe loading and unloading of LGV’s for all personnel involved in the loading and unloading of scaffold materials (appropriate training will be provided).
  • Installation and upkeep of vehicle tracking units for all commercial vehicles.
  • Maintenance of tracker website including monitoring and investigating tracker removal notifications and reporting to the Transport Manager.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly behaviour reports to Divisional Directors.
  • Reconcile monthly service invoices to ensure charges are correctly costed to divisions.


  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be willing and able to travel
  • Proactive and self-motivated
  • Proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Excel, Pegasus and Vision
  • Knowledge of transport legislation and health and safety compliance
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in National Road Haulage
  • UK Full Driving Licence
  • IOSH Training
