Built by Teamwork: Hannington Works Officially Opens
We are pleased to share that the new and improved Hannington Works facility is now fully operational, supplying KAEFER UK & Ireland with Scaffold & Plant across 200 live projects. Across the yard, workshop and offices, we have 23 employees helping us to deliver real value to our clients.

The facility was officially opened yesterday, with a ribbon cut by one of our longest serving employees, David Eggleston. David, aged 76, has worked for KAEFER in various roles over the last 45 years and now works at Hannington Works maintaining plant in the workshop.
“David is a grafter. He’s one of our most productive employees when it comes to the preparation of plant and equipment, ensuring it’s delivered to our projects looking the part and representing the KAEFER brand. He still enjoys coming to work at 76, which is rare, so we really appreciate his dedication.”
– Wayne Branighan, Head of Assets
So far in 2026, the team has transitioned 5,200 tonne of scaffold materials in and out of the yard — that’s around 870 elephants! The facility supports sites such as Shell Mossmorran, Phillips 66, Devonport, Rosyth, HPC and Equinor to name a few. The team has also delivered vital plant and equipment, as well as providing innovative solutions to many projects, enabling our operations to deliver first class services.
“This milestone is a testament to the hard work and perseverance of Wayne and his team, who have transformed Hannington Works into the well-organised, thriving hub of productivity it is today. The facility plays a vital role in supporting the smooth delivery of our scaffold projects across the UK.
However, reaching this point has not been without its challenges. Throughout the construction of the facility, the team worked tirelessly under difficult conditions, often overcoming obstacles that many across the business were unaware of. Their determination, resilience and team spirit ensured that, despite the challenges, every project continued to receive the materials it needed. It’s a remarkable achievement and one that everyone involved should be incredibly proud of.“
– Steve Corden, Operational Excellence & Technical Director
This expansion marks a new chapter for the site in Gateshead, reflecting our ongoing investment in our people, infrastructure, assets and future. With more space, improved capability and a better working environment for our teams, it’s a major step forward for our Scaffold & Surface Preparation operations.
