Count on Us: Delivering Excellence, One Dome at a Time

The KAEFER UK & Ireland team working on Hinkley Point C have successfully completed the coating work for the Unit 2 Dome – one month faster than the equivalent scope on Unit 1. This milestone paves the way for the MEH Alliance to begin installing the EVU pipework, a critical part of the nuclear safety system designed to act as a sprinkler in the event of a fire in the Reactor Building.

The work was completed in three key stages: blasting to prepare the steel, applying two layers of primer, and finishing with the topcoat. To ensure air quality and thorough inspections, the team applied the topcoat in seven sections. Safety was also a top priority, with elevated platforms used instead of scaffolding to reduce airborne dust exposure for the team.

Ali Beveridge, KAEFER Package Manager, said:
“We’ve once again delivered a landmark steel structure in preparation for Dome Lift 2 this summer, working with a relatively new team under the supervision of Paul Smith and Greig Black. I’m proud of this team and their commitment to high standards.”

Paul Ferrand, Operations Manager, added:
“This achievement is a testament to the skill and dedication of our people. Completing the work ahead of schedule while maintaining safety and quality standards is what sets KAEFER apart. The team’s focus and expertise ensure that we continue to deliver for Hinkley Point C.”

With another major milestone completed, the team continues to demonstrate why clients can count on us to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality solutions.
