Security Info | Social Media

Social media is everywhere. Platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, X, Pinterest, Reddit, and LinkedIn are part of daily life, with new ones constantly emerging. People are uploading content covering all aspects of their lives, perhaps including information about their jobs, their promotions, new job titles, contact details, the organisations they work for and possibly, special projects they are working on/just commenced/just completed.

KAEFER’s activities in the UK Defence and Nuclear Sectors enables our company to operate in areas and on projects where highly classified information can be exchanged between our Site Teams and our Clients. It is therefore very important that all employees of KAEFER remember the “Need to Know” adage and to take a cautious and responsible approach when it comes to what information is uploaded to the many available social media sites.

Before clicking on the send or upload button, take a minute to review your comments to ensure that no classified material, including photos and videos, is being accidently disseminated to a wider, world-wide audience that can now use powerful AI software to rapidly identify keywords and locations to track promising leads and pull together a potential greater understanding of what is happening on some of the UK’s most significant defence and nuclear projects.

Please also be wary and suspicious of all out of the blue contacts on your social media sites, or by text / WhatsApp / email, from people offering new jobs or consultancy type roles, also asking for your CV and/or pushing for more information on projects you are working on currently. If you believe that this may have happened to you or a colleague then please advise your line manager and CIT via Service Desk.
