SOR January 2026 Winners

Jasmine Bailey and Connor Lownie have been chosen as January’s SOR of the Month for their strong commitment to safety and acting quickly.

Jasmine Bailey – Hinkley Point C, Nuclear & Defence

Jasmine submitted SOR 222874, identifying and responding to an internal leak from a generator air compressor which resulted in a spill onto a concrete floor.

Her observation detailed how the liquid had been absorbed and contained using spill kits and waterproof coverings to prevent further spread. Jasmine also ensured the issue was escalated, with a filter replacement arranged and further investigation planned to address the root cause of the leak.

Importantly, Jasmine recognised the potential environmental and safety risks, including contamination and the need to maintain control measures. Her actions ensured the area was made safe quickly and that appropriate follow-up actions were put in place.

Jasmine’s actions are a great example of being proactive, taking immediate action, and ensuring underlying issues are addressed to prevent recurrence.

Connor Lownie – British Gas SE, Energy & Industrial

Connor submitted SOR 222763, highlighting unsafe access and egress to a work area. During a site walk, he identified an alleyway filled with rubbish and broken fencing containing nails, which was made more hazardous from the wet and slippery conditions.

Recognising the risk, Connor exercised Stop Work Authority and raised the issue with his manager. It was agreed that the customer would need to provide a safe access route before work could proceed. The job was paused until the hazards were cleared.

Connor’s actions prevented potential injury and demonstrated excellent judgement in prioritising safety over task completion.
