Team KAEFER takes on the Tyne at the NE1 Dragon Boat Race

Two teams of KAEFER colleagues took to the River Tyne this weekend for our first ever NE1 Newcastle Dragon Boat Race – all in support of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

With our UK & Ireland headquarters now based on Newcastle’s Quayside, we couldn’t really have asked for a more local challenge!

Colleagues from across the business came together to represent KAEFER over two days of racing, with team members travelling from as far as Aberdeen and Hinkley Point C to take part.

Friday got us off to a great start, with Team KAEFER winning their first race of the day. They went on to record a best time of 1 minute 18 seconds, eventually finishing 10th out of 28 teams.

On Saturday, a fresh KAEFER crew took to the water for another full day of racing, finishing an impressive 9th out of 26 teams with their best time of 1 minute 13 seconds.

Neither team quite managed to secure a place in the final, but the weekend was about much more than the results. From the pre-race warm-ups and some very confident predictions, to cheering each other on from the Quayside, it was a brilliant display of our Team Spirit value in action.

Most importantly, the weekend was all for a fantastic cause. The NE1 Newcastle Dragon Boat Race raises funds for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, supporting cancer research and treatment in the North East of England.

A huge thank you to everyone who represented KAEFER over the weekend, those who travelled to Newcastle to take part, and everyone who came along to support our teams from the riverbank.
