Commendation for KAEFER UK & Ireland Colleague Tim Healy

Commendation for KAEFER UK & Ireland Colleague Tim Healy

Tim Healy, Commercial Administrator for KAEFER UK & Ireland at Devonport supporting our client Babcock International, has received a Commendation from the Naval Base Commander, Brigadier Mike Tanner RM.

In his spare time, Tim is a member of the Royal Navy Volunteer Band within the Devonport Naval Base and has recently supported the British Embassy in Athens, Greece as part of the King’s Coronation celebrations! A direct request for service musical support came from HM Ambassador to Greece, Mr Matthew Lodge.

Tim, who plays the drum and bugle in the band, volunteered to fly out to Greece to perform a ceremonial fanfare to start the event, and being a multi-skilled musician, even took his bagpipes along to provide suitably regal music for the dignitaries and invited guests.

The event was a great success, and after leaving a favourable impression, Tim was invited back to Greece a few weeks later to support the UK Embassy again for the 82nd Anniversary of the Battle of Crete commemorations. Working along side the Defence team, Tim helped to deliver a 3-day programme of ceremonial and commemorative events across the island – performing appropriate music on the bagpipes and in full uniform.

Brigadier Tanner felt that such work should be recognised and highlighted the important role that Volunteer Musicians like Tim have within the Royal Navy – acting as ambassadors and building the UK’s relations and defence profile.

When presented with the Commendation, Tim said it was a privilege to represent the Naval Base, Royal Navy, and the UK at such important events abroad and was very grateful to have been given the opportunity.

Brilliant work Tim!
