Down’s Syndrome Awareness Month

Down’s Syndrome Awareness Month

October is Down’s Syndrome Awareness Month! The aim is to bring attention to the condition, educate people with facts and debunk myths, celebrate those with Down’s syndrome, and create a more inclusive society.

Since 2021, KAEFER UK & Ireland have partnered with the Down’s Syndrome Association (DSA), Down’s Syndrome Scotland (DSS) and Down Syndrome Ireland (DSI), showing we are committed to making a positive impact both in and outside of the workplace. These charities provide essential support, advocacy, education, and community connections for individuals with Down’s syndrome, their families and carers.

When first partnering with these charities, the KAEFER team across the UK and Ireland have raised over £100,000 to not only support the charity’s vital work but also help to raise awareness of learning disabilities and Down’s syndrome across our business.

Additionally, we have supported WorkFit, DSA’s specialist employment programme, which helps people with Down’s syndrome to access job opportunities that align with their skills and ambitions. Supporting this cause led to us welcoming two employees into roles in the north of England, marking a proud milestone of ours and growing inclusive employment.

Chris Foulkes, CEO of KAEFER UK & Ireland said:

“At KAEFER UK & Ireland, we believe in building partnerships that make a real difference. Together, we’re not only raising awareness but also creating opportunities through programmes like WorkFit, which help people thrive in meaningful employment. We look forward to seeing our partnerships grow and the positive impact it brings to so many families and communities.”
