Eggstra Special Collection in West Cumbria
KAEFER UK & Ireland employees in West Cumbria, along with kind-hearted families and friends, have collected over 1,000 Easter Eggs for the North Lakes Food Bank to give out with their free school meal packs over Easter.
The KAEFER West Cumbria’s Employee Social Impact Group, made up of a cross section of employees from across the industrial services providers workforce, ran a campaign to collect Easter Eggs for the North Lakes Food Bank. The aim was to collect 700 eggs for the charity however they smashed this and collected over 1,000 eggs.

The appeal was supported by community groups and teams that KAEFER staff are involved in, including Hensingham Rugby league club who donated 100 eggs. In addition, Joe Murdoch on behalf of the GMB Union gave a donation of £300, which has been given directly to North Lakes Food Bank in support of their work.
The excess eggs were offered to providers in Copeland and Allerdale who are delivering activities as part of Cumbria’s Holiday Activity and Food Programme (HAF) for local children who receive benefits-related free school meals or are eligible because of their circumstances.
The following organisations received 300 eggs for distribution to participants over the Easter holidays:
- South Workington Youth Partnership at Moorclose Community Centre
- Wigton Youth Station
- Aspatria Dreamscheme
- Blencathra Field Studies Centre
- GLL Workington and Maryport
- Endorphins Allerdale
- Stepping Stones Nursery, Maryport
- Rosehill Youth Theatre Trust, Whitehaven
Elizabeth Atkinson, KAEFER UK & Ireland Social Impact Manager for Cumbria, said, “When the group decided to do this, we expected to get around 200 eggs but had set a target of trying to reach 700. We have been overwhelmed by the generosity and support for this campaign. We are pleased to have been able to support not only North Lakes Food Bank, but also these organisations providing valuable activities for children in need in our local area as part of the HAF programme.”
“It’s brilliant to see KAEFER West Cumbria’s Employee Social Impact Group support Cumbria’s Holiday Activity and Food Programme,” said a Cumbria County Council spokesperson. “Cumbria’s Holiday Activity and Food Programme is all about giving our young people experiences and memories which will last a lifetime- and it is gestures such as this which make the programme that extra bit special. Thank you to KAEFER employees and others for your generosity in supporting the programme.”
“North Lakes Foodbank would like to thank all those who have donated Easter eggs,” said Stuart Christian from the North Lakes Foodbank. “Even through difficult times, people still want to give to others, it’s amazing.”
