Help­ing keep the GSK an­ti­bi­otic sup­ply chain flow­ing

In­dus­trial ser­vices pro­vider KAEFER has se­cured a pro­ject and main­ten­ance ser­vices con­tract ex­ten­sion with GSK for their Irvine phar­ma­ceut­ical fa­cil­ity.

The Irvine site sup­ports the an­ti­bi­otic sup­ply chain for GSK by man­u­fac­tur­ing in­gredi­ents for an­ti­bi­ot­ics be­long­ing to a group of drugs called peni­cil­lins, used to fight bac­teria in the body.

The KAEFER con­tract will sup­port the GSK en­gin­eer­ing de­part­ment with pro­ject in­stall­a­tion and on­go­ing day-to-day main­ten­ance across elec­trical, in­stru­ment­a­tion, scaf­fold­ing, in­su­la­tion and sur­face pro­tec­tion.  The en­gin­eer­ing de­part­ment sup­ports the safety, qual­ity and re­li­ab­il­ity of the sites crit­ical 24/​7 Pro­duc­tion Op­er­a­tions.

The KAEFER team will also man­age scaf­fold­ing, in­su­la­tion, and spe­cial­ist coat­ings sup­port for the site: re­du­cing down­time and en­sur­ing as­set pro­tec­tion. The con­tract, which be­gins in July 2021 will run for a min­imum of three years.

KAEFER have provided scaf­fold­ing, in­su­la­tion, and paint­ing ser­vices to the site since 2010 and elec­trical and in­stru­ment­a­tion sup­port since 2018. “We have a suc­cess­ful track re­cord at Irvine in de­liv­er­ing safe, qual­ity, and ef­fi­cient in­stall­a­tion ser­vices in sup­port of GSKs main­ten­ance and pro­ject activ­it­ies,” said Nick Wal­ters, Di­vi­sional Dir­ector. “Our aim at KAEFER is to be the most re­li­able and ef­fi­cient pro­vider of tech­nical in­dus­trial ser­vices and se­cur­ing this con­tract ex­ten­sion after 11 years at the site is a great ex­ample of how we make this aim a real­ity.”

This con­tract ex­ten­sion means more than 50 skilled KAEFER fam­ily mem­bers will con­tinue to sup­port the Irvine site. KAEFER also sup­port GSK at their Wor­th­ing, Ul­ver­ston and Barn­ard Castle sites.
