NEXUS CENTRAL TUNNEL

KAEFER UK & Ireland worked with Nexus to remediate asbestos from the central tunnel of the Metro train system. The project consisted of the environmental cleaning and encapsulation of the tunnel liners.

This work involved working in the tunnels during nightshift periods when the system is closed down. The environmental cleaning of asbestos was carried out under the supervision of the Nexus staff and analysts. Due to time constraints, the area could not be enclosed and dispensation was granted from the HSE, as this would have meant the closure of the entire Metro system.
