KAEFER UK & Ireland Celebrates 5-Year Commitment to Down’s Syndrome Scotland at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show

KAEFER UK & Ireland is proud to announce the signing of a five-year corporate partnership with Down’s Syndrome Scotland, cementing a relationship that began in 2021.

Since then, KAEFER has raised over £65,000 to support Down’s Syndrome Scotland, Down’s Syndrome Ireland, and the Down’s Syndrome Association. But the partnership goes far beyond fundraising. Over the past three years, KAEFER has actively worked to increase awareness of learning disabilities and Down’s syndrome across its sites and offices through awareness campaigns, internal engagement, and inclusive employment.

In 2022, KAEFER proudly welcomed Sarah and Gary into the organisation through their employment support scheme – a programme that supports individuals with Down’s syndrome to access meaningful work. Their presence has had a powerful and lasting impact across the business.

The 2025 RHS Chelsea Flower Show marks the latest chapter in KAEFER’s collaboration with Down Syndrome Scotland. In partnership with JR Adams, KAEFER provided logistical support for the charity’s show garden – a vibrant and creative space designed to raise awareness and celebrate the voices of people with Down’s syndrome on a global stage.

Trevor Woodward, Business & Strategy Director at KAEFER UK & Ireland, said:

“This partnership is built on shared values and a shared vision – one where inclusion and opportunity are at the heart of everything we do. Since 2021, we’ve grown together in meaningful ways: from raising funds and awareness to opening our doors to new colleagues through their employment support schemes. Signing this agreement is not the start of something new, but a celebration of what we’ve already achieved and our commitment to doing even more together in the years ahead.”

Eddie McConnell, Chief Executive of Down’s Syndrome Scotland, said:

“We are thrilled to continue this amazing partnership with KAEFER UK & Ireland – they have become fantastic ambassadors for our community, always championing the value and potential of people with Down’s syndrome. We can’t wait to see how our partnership grows over the next 5 years.”

In addition to the partnership with Down Syndrome Scotland, KAEFER UK & Ireland has also signed corporate agreements with Down Syndrome Ireland and the Down’s Syndrome Association, reinforcing a long-term, group-wide dedication to support, awareness, and inclusion across the UK and Ireland.

DSS Garden / RHS Chelsea Flower Show

The Down’s Syndrome Scotland Garden, designed by RHS Chelsea newcomers Nick Burton and Duncan Hall of Burton Hall Garden Design, was built at the site with the help of a group of young adults with Down’s syndrome.
Winning a Silver-Gilt medal awarded by the RHS, the garden is an immersive, semi-wooded space celebrating and reflecting the unique qualities that people with Down’s syndrome bring to society. Within the garden is a water pool that initially appears to be a barrier to progress, symbolising the daily challenges faced by people with Down’s syndrome. A submerged bridge within the water pool allows the ‘barrier’ to be overcome, and visitors arrive at a welcoming garden shelter designed to look and feel like a warm and comforting ‘hug’.’

Their show garden has been made possible thanks to the sponsorship by Project Giving Back, a grant-making charity that supports gardens for good causes at RHS Chelsea before relocating them to sites across the UK.For information about the Down’s Syndrome Scotland Garden contact: Joy Baker, joy@bakerpr.co.uk 07810 442659.
